The FI8910W does not see as well in low light as the FI9821W. The field of view is slightly wider in the FI8910W. You can only get the camera name and OSD to stream on the FI8910W if you are viewing it on the embedded webserver. There is no slot to record on a SD vellum on the FI8910W. The FI8910W has a increasingly stable WiFi connection than the FI9821W V2 which drops out all the time. You have to make sure you configure it properly in the camera, your router, and if needed your device from the subscription company. Personally I like the FI9821W V2 largest for image quality, and compression, but the FI8910W has a largest WiFi connector in it. (Posted on 12/31/14) Decent Quality, Nice Design,UnconfinedFeatures, Terrible Setup, Lousy Software Review by IMRAN Price Quality The title really says it all. Decent Quality, Nice Design,UnconfinedFeatures, Terrible Setup, Lousy Software. The installer CD version and plane the downloaded version of the software for Windows did not snift the camera plane unfluctuating with an Ethernet cable. I was worldly-wise to snift it with the Mac version of the software (which has a megacosm stage of mid 2012 or so!). The Windows software THEN saw the camera. I had to download the firmware update that I did from the Windows browser, which worked. I tested seeing the video on the Mac considering my Windows security settings kept me from installing the Unknown Publisher software. I then shredded the camera from power and Ethernet, and without a few minutes unfluctuating it to power to see if it would work on WiFI which I had programmed and verified in the settings through the browser. But, alas, now the camera is not found and I get a timeout. Very frustrating user wits for what does squint like a fairly well designed package with decent video quality and smooth tilt and pan, at a good price. (Posted on 12/13/14) Victor Jones Review by T. Clark Price Quality Victor Jones is wondrous and very helpful.. I am ownership increasingly Foscam cameras considering of the service I get from all Foscam staff!!! (Posted on 7/30/14) It is a unconfined price/camera if you use it for the right cause! Review by Cat Price Quality I have 4 of these cameras. This camera should not be used as a security camera if you can sire something better! It is a fantastic indoor camera if you have a small child or an elderly person that you must watch to make sure they haven’t falling and can’t get up. The picture is not good unbearable for a good ID of a person. If you had to pick out someone in a line up it would be untellable if two or increasingly people were tropical to the same weight and height. It is a unconfined price if you use it for the right cause! If you cannot sire any other kind of camera and you are in dire need for security: then you can use this to help modernize your security some. This camera can be set up to send you an e-mail as soon as it detects motion. Just have the cameras inside of your house/apartment facing the doors and windows. That way as soon as you get an e-mail of a person breaking into your house you can undeniability the neighbors and your local police department. PS Also, I stipulate with the other reviews, it is nonflexible to set up, but if you undeniability the tech help they will help you. They have an spanking-new tech support! (Posted on 5/10/14) Quality product, good support Review by Korlin Price QualityUnconfinedproduct , the on-the-phone support is adequate, you can tell they are rushed to get off the phone. If your clueless, ask the support team to take tenancy of your computer remotely and they will finish installation quick and properly (Posted on 5/6/14) foscam 9821p Review by silky Price QualityUnconfinedcamera, spanking-new consumer service and would recomend it to anyone..THANKS!!! (Posted on 4/15/14)UnconfinedProduct Review by Patrick Price Quality I have had this camera for over a year at it operates virtually problem free. Good buy! (Posted on 4/8/14) Nice product, good value Review by VEDesigner Price Quality Under Windows 8.1, the IP camera software caused IE to crash repeatedly. This should be stock-still in the next firmware release...we'll see. (Posted on 4/3/14) BEST MONEY EVER SPENT Review by arturo torres Price Quality Michelle Smith is a waddle star she remotely controlled my palmtop installed all soft wear, set every detail to my liking, password, everything she did all I did was connect the foscam vis Rj45 and powered my camera up she did the rest.. if you are ownership a Foscam IP wirless camera, undeniability the 18009300949 number you speak to a hub man yayyy..Ask for Michelle Smith, she is the BEST HELPER EVER Thanks MicroCenter Brooklen park mn and Foscam, for the piece of mind when I'm not home all will be seen 24-7 for 100 dollars (Posted on 3/23/14) ProVisitorPro Product A+++ Review by ltdan Price Quality I don't join forums too often or leave feedback on a product, but had to with this ip camera. I left a post on the forum for Linux/DD-WRT router installation, subconscious essid wimpy blah. Took couple days noodling and lamister the manual, but got it up solid WAN/LAN. If you have pets/kids/valuables etc. this company/forum/products is the way to go. I understand Linux isn't unchangingly "supported" with browsers/plugins so if you are on Windows just folow the guide/forum. My next cam I will buy uncontrived from Foscam, that's how happy I am with their product/service. They have a biz worth with Teamviewer, which says a lot. That way if you run into trouble just chat/call and they can be in, save you time/energy and be out asap. I'm not a "trusting" kind of guy, I trust Foscam. (Posted on 2/23/14) set up for remote use outside network Review by John Price Quality Setting it up and setting it up wirelessly was easy and using it from inside my network was very easy! Easy instructions for doing that. My biggest problem was getting remote wangle so I can view yonder from home. I was so tumbled well-nigh stock-still ips and dnsdynamic and getting into my router and waffly the settings. Had no clue! I'm not a computer guy. So without well-nigh 5 hours of reading forums and watching lots of youtube vids I finally tabbed Foscam. Got to say they had it up in running without only 5 min. I did requite them remote wangle to my computer and watched everything she was doing on my computer. Amy Lopez help me with my problem. Got the foscam pro app for iphone 5s and seems to be working very nice. Guess the new foscams have there own dnsd# so I didn't have to sign up for an worth or download noip.com. I will be order flipside camera asap. Thanks Amy Lopez for your help and explaining how it all works. YOU ROCK! Not sure why there is negative comments on there consumer service. Maybe the customers where just frustrated they where having problems. Which I could understand!! (Posted on 2/23/14)Unconfinedlittle camera Review by RCO Price Quality Have several of these cameras, one is in a upstairs unheated garage window where conditions are hot in summer and unprepossessed in winter. The camera has unchangingly worked well. Set-up was easy, without I found our ISP was some blocking ports. Overall very happy with this camera. it is a unconfined deal for the cost. (Posted on 2/23/14)UnconfinedCamera Review by michacavan Price Quality Seting up wireless was easy. Remote took some work. Throw out the instuctions and watch the youtube videos instead. I was worldly-wise to set it up to my own network hands but had trouble setting it up for wireless and remote access. I tried for a few days and decided it was time for tech support.Tabbedthem and the guy was great. He did it through screen share and it was quick and painless. Review by Jimmy Price Quality Relatively easy once I figured out the first camera. Took well-nigh an hour to set up the first camera completely to the point of wireless remote wangle and recording (Make sure to transpiration password, very wieldy to outside if they have just a bit of info). Am accessing my camera and executive through my mobile phone with no problems. Camera wireless range is not as inpressive as you would think. I will be converting to POE soon. Wireless is largest suited for intermitent monitoring situations. I can only get well-nigh 20' of resulting connectivity WITH line of sight. Otherwise, the camera is not a bad buy. I am fairly versed in networking, and I finger that an struggle at DIYing with no networking wits may be a rencontre to get fully setup with remote access. But that could moreover be considering the camera kept reverting when to it's default of 320X240 instead of staying at 640X480! I exit, come when and it reverts back- plane when setting the Preset then Set at variegated numbers clicking Go or Set, reverts iy back! Recording in *.AVI format kills nonflexible momentum space quickly! Why Foscam Viewer Lite for Android? Is there a full version that should be included with the unit to uncork with? Please, straighten out these issues, set up was easy, some of the software is buggy and an update is truly needed- until then, flipside star just came off... Were tough to set up since I have a Range Extender, and had some issues, I was using Suportrix, since I had got a 6 issue plan from Supportrix, recommended by Linksys, with early Verizion Range Extenders. Verizon did not requite out all needed ports, linksys would not touch and Supportrix stock-still it. If I had it to do over then I would pay Foscam to install one if you are tech savy, but not geeky soo. Once you get DNS set-up, at time I bought 5 year plan 90 bucks and a few security glitches and a rotten egg CSR at Foscam that they took superintendency of, cameras do exactly what I wanted. To be worldly-wise to pull up on iPhone easy from anywhere Verizon has coverage, and hands seen what's going on.Planeused one outside under awing durning winter. I have theUndecorousIris, but other than putting cameras on have not set up for all features. In garage sometimes it reboots, think considering of summer heat. Speaker is not loud unbearable unless in quite room. Turn well-constructed darkness to day not verisimilitude but great. Colors are unexceptionable and crisp. Using Windows 7 64 bit and linksys E3000 router. Waiting for outdoor Pan/tilt Wirless with Zoom and a good loud speaker and audio. Just a matter of time. Theses F8910w are the ones to get, save yourself headache and have Foscam at least set-up on and pay attention. If not computer skills with router, and port forwarding and no time to learn let them set up. Tried all the variegated Camera Apps for Iphone 4 and still like Foscam's software the best. (Posted on 7/17/13) Nice Cameras! Review by RSM61 Price Quality I bought one of these and was so impressed I bought two more. The Pan/Tilt full-length is great. The digital zoom (on some software) is ok. I tried one of the 9821's, but I couldn't see anything inside my house unless all the window shades were unshut AND the lights were on, which kind of defeats the purpose of security. That one went when right away. If they can make webcams, video cameras, digital cameras, etc., that record in HD in low light Foscam should be worldly-wise to do it. So far though, These Cams are the only ones that have worked for me indoors (of the Pan Tilt variety). I have been having a problem though with all three of them and theoretically it's not just me. Tech support has, either not been worldly-wise to fix it, or doesn't care, but at least once a day sometimes more, the cameras will reboot. Now what that does is sets off my motion detection watchtower and turns the ir lights when on. Two of these cameras are mounted inside windows and the ir lights have to stay off at night so the reflection doesn't wash out the picture. They are running the most current firmware, and they do this at variegated times of the day/night so I know it's not a home powerline interruption. I do like these camers a lot, it's just that one amazingly inconvienient issue that I wish they could fix. They DO have good wireless range though. I have one mounted in a uninfluenced garage 75 feet from my house. The signal has to go through my house, then through the metal garage door and steel entry door that squatter my house. I did add a 9dbi antenna, but I have a good connection with no drops. I have flipside thing to say well-nigh ALL Foscam cameras in general, and other ip cams. The wireless bandwidth they slosh is horrendous. The specs say they use 54Mbps MAX. I ran some tests on my system and found that each camera was gobbling up 5MB of bandwidth! I tabbed Foscam well-nigh this issue and they had no explination for this either. I have 9 cameras. Once I unfluctuating unbearable cameras to eat all of my misogynist bandwidth, the framerate started going lanugo with each spare cam introduced. THEN, When I tried to download a file, watch a movie on Netflix, etc., I had problems due to the cams consuming the majority of the bandwidth. I ended up hardwiring most of my Cameras, with only two left that are wireless which are the ones in and on my garage. So, if you just have a few cams you probably won't notice this. But if you have 7 or 8, or more, then you might have problems. (Posted on 7/12/13) a worthwhile product Review by jwc Price Quality I installed one FI8910W indoors tent two windows and three doors. It took ten minutes to get the first pictures, and flipside couple of hours to configure. The videos under SUPPORT and the user guide were unbearable for me to get the camera functioning. So far it has performed just as advertised. My next camera will be outdoor. I'm trying to decide whether it will be stock-still or move-able, and I'll be interested to see how a multi camera setup performs. All in all, a good value, particularly if you have any network skills. (Posted on 7/10/13)UnconfinedCamera with one Exception Review by horsekeeper Price Quality The FI8910 was my first nomination and it was the weightier choice. I tabbed them and they told me that to send the CD would be an spare $5.00. When you receive or trammels the options you may want with the camera, it's weightier to undeniability them an ask them what you will be getting as far as software considering they don't tell you. Just picks up an IP write from your DHCP server (router, or whatever) and it's washed-up - just point (any) browser at it. Lots of other options for preset P&T positions, picture splendor contrast, etc. All the network options you can wish for. Easy wangle from "out there" with port forwarding (in your router), and simple 3 level security to restrict functions.UnconfinedIR range for operation with the lights off. All for 70 quid! I would moreover like to see SSL support. Overall, it works well, no optical zoom but in this price range, can't find a ptz camera with optical zoom from a reputable company. Its a little over-whelming to setup if your not a technical user, but, from my experience, its nothing your neighborhood geek couldn't help you setup and well worth it. I never it to work on my wireless using MAC filtering, though, I must admit, I believe the instuctions said that may be an issue. I know use WPA and it works fine. 2 issues that have prevented me from purchasing increasingly of these...1-MS IE will not connect through a firewall to this device over port 80 (Standard 'web' port). However, Firedfox will. Not sure why, seems the IE version tries to unshut increasingly ports, thats a no-no for a web product. 2-Because I have to use Firefox, in order to get sound I have to install a 3rd party app/plugin from videolan.org. While its free, it doesn't work as well as the IE version. One other thing, the talk when is terrible, at least through Firefox, which (See previous statements) is all I can use from overdue the corp firewall. That all said, for the typical user looking to trammels in on the kids, ederly, etc, this is a GREAT, relatively inexpensive solution. Some bugs to be ironed out, but, still, reliable. This camera is probably the weightier camera they make. Has a decent user interface / Its lacking a few features - Such asStageStamp on the Video Image itself. There are lots ofUnconfinediPhone apps for this camera. It can pan in 8 directions. The quality at 640x480 is not bad, BUT could use an upgrade. I tried their 720p camera but it is using a OLD outdated menu system from the 86**** series Cameras. So I will not be purchasing flipside one of those. This camera however IMO is their FLAGSHIP product. It is priced at a reasonable level. Works, and does exactly what it suppose to do. I own over 10+ of these cameras and have them mounted all over my house. If anyone was to ask which WIFI camera I would buy, it would be this camera. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR NEW FOSCAM FI9820W 720p, It sucks! I posted a review in that section to read, But it is a collaberation of OLD TECHNOLOGY and NEW and its PAINFULLY RETARDED to USE! (Posted on 8/17/12) Nice camera, scrutinizingly useless wifi Review by steve Price Quality I purchased a 2 pack of these cameras. I am satisfied with the picture and features in this price range. However, the wifi range is a huge disappointment. I tried old routers, new routers, G, N, regular antennas, included 9db antennas, inside, outside, uncontrived outdoor line of sight and have been lucky to erratically have the cameras work at increasingly than well-nigh 60 feet from a new ASUS RT-n56u router. Inside range through wooden walls is well-nigh 30 ft. I am in a rural zone with NO wifi anywhere near. Both cameras act the same. My old iBook shows g signal levels of 50-80 % at the same spots I tried the cameras. I have used wireless routers and traps for years. The conclusion? Worthless wifi signal. Unless you are using wired or 20 feet from your router, I cannot reccommend these cameras. (Posted on 8/10/12)Wondrousproduct Review by Gene Price Quality I bought one a week ago and I am amazed by the quality. Setup took between 30 and 60 minutes and was very easy. It would have been faster, but I took my time playing virtually with variegated configurations. The range is great. It picks up wifi without any issues anywhere in my house. I have my router on the first floor, and can plane use the cam on the second floor. The built in monitoring software is fantastic. I moreover purchased tinyCam (3rd party) and installed it on my phone and tablet. All camera functionality works unconfined with it, including sound and two-way communication. I'm so happy with it, that I just purchased flipside one. TheWhento School unbelieve makes it an plane sweeter deal. Some tips 1) Anyone that says it has poor range, needs to upgrade their router. The receiver on the cam is fantastic, so if you have bad range you probably need to ugprade your 10 year old router. 2) Setting up the public DNS routing is not ramified and does not require wide knowledge of the technology involved. Try reading some instructions, intead of calling this a useless product. If you don't understand how networking works between public and private networks, that is not this company's fault. They have provided all the info you need to get you setup to wangle the cam through the internet. 3) Don't vituperation Foscam if the visitor you work at blocks the port you are using to view the cam on. Does your superabound know you're doing personal stuff during working hours and trying to unravel your comnpany's security policies? 4) Pan/Tilt as well as all other functions work unconfined on mobile devices. I tested on Android and iOS. If it's not working for you, you must be doing something wrong.Marrowline is this device works exactly as designed and advertised. Nothing more, nothing less. You can fill the gap between turning it on and accessing it over the internet by learning to read. (Posted on 8/6/12)UnconfinedProduct for Price - Just One Thing Missing Review by Paul Price Quality My technical knowledge is fairly good regarding routers, IP addresses, etc., so setup on this was fairly straightforward for me, but it might be a bit overwhelming to people who aren't tech savvy. I was pretty impressed with how much technology I got for the price. I'm worldly-wise to wangle the camera anywhere over the internet, and that includes my Windows laptop, as well as my Android phone and my Kindle Fire (using a self-ruling app). There is only one thing that I would like to see.....and that is the worthiness to wangle the camera using https instead of just http. My camera is used to monitor an elderly relative, and sometimes she can be seen partially undressed. Makes me uncomfortable not having https for sending worth and password over the internet. Would have given 5 stars if it had https. Don't relate to the steps that need to be taken. Had to undeniability helpdesk - Not misogynist until 4pm UK time as they are in USA!! When it did get working the problem is with accessing from an external ip through Ipad you cannot pan/tilt. You need to download ipad software at a cost. What's the underdone point then. Can't plane wangle the pictures from my office PC considering external ip port is blocked. So I've got several Foscam units and I can't use them :((. Maybe if there was a hosting website that might have washed-up the trick. But the camera's are useless as I can't view from my workplace. Asked foscam support if there is a way virtually and they didn't know. I don't want to have to take in a spare personal palmtop or ipad everywhere I go. Doesn't work on blackberry as I get zippo screen. So problems are: i) Can't view pages from work using prescribed ip write and port as most companies will woodcut ports. Big drawback! ii) From ipad can't pan/tilt. Thanks a lot Foscam. Surely you knew this bug when you sold me the units.Spareipad software (costs more) may do the trick but I shouldn't need to purchase increasingly software just to get it working. iii) Can't view thru blackerry, using external ip get zippo screen. Very obvious drawbacks Foscam should have addressed. In addition, the tech, Calvin, assisted me in setting up my iPad & iPhone with the Foscam APPs. Looking over the forums, I was worldly-wise to set up the email watchtower without signing up for a gmx email worth (that seemed to be the easiest). We have never had security issues, but now I can remotely monitor my property when we are not at home. I would love one of these for monitoring the when yard. Review by Inventory Manager Price Quality I'm not an expert in IP webcams, as my only hands on wits is with Toshiba ($500) and D-Link ($200) models. But based on that wits this is by far the weightier value for the cost. Initially I had some challenges with configuring for wireless use in a corporate environment (802.11b/g/n WPA2 AES with special characters). The biggest rencontre was just finding it (unable to use the camera finder in Windows 7 for some reason), but was worldly-wise to ping-sweep withWrestlingIP Scanner to find IP's without Hostnames and unshut port 80. Opened up in browser and got to work. Found the steps that worked for me was to configure the wireless settings ONLY. Reboot. Then configure the Ethernet static IP write settings. Reboot and unplug Ethernet cable. Watch the untried Ethernet LED go from slow intermittent shimmer quick shimmer as an indicator that it's unfluctuating to the wireless LAN. Then unshut a browser and connect to the new IP address... VOILA!!!! As far as quality, there is some distortion or curvature on the very edges of the visual field of view, but it's not noticeable in most cases - only if you have a straight object like pole, or house, or something in that word-for-word spot... and plane then it's slight.Verisimilitudereproduction is much improved from the FI8918W model, and in my opinion the clarity is moreover improved slightly. The biggest resurgence is definitely with the audio - both the microphone and the speaker. The work unconfined with the FI8910W now. Granted the speaker is not very loud, but it's fine for small and relatively quiet areas like virtually the house. In an industrial environment (where I'm using it) the speaker is pretty much not usable. But the microphone is just fine. No issues whatsoever with the wireless sufficiency either - seems to work just is well in areas where I have low signal quality (as viewed from my laptop) as it does right next to the wireless wangle point. Pan and tilt is moreover unconfined - much increasingly range than what I've had with D-Link and Toshiba models - movement is fairly quick too. Can't recommend this device highly enough. Again, for the forfeit and features it's a unconfined value. (Posted on 7/13/12) Plays well with Linux Review by Maine_Guy Price Quality Linux users need to know that the included CD is only for obtaining the cam IP write so it doesn't matter that it's only for Mac and MS. Just connect it to your router with a subscription and get the IP write from your router dhcp vendee list. Point your browser to that IP and do the cam setup. Set a stock-still IP and then go wireless. No drivers necessary. Really plug and play. Snapshots are misogynist at camaddress/snapshot.cgi or stream with camaddress/videostream.cgi. Highly recommended. There are two important "lessons learned" that could be construed as "implied tasks." 1.Surpassingordering the product, make sure that RFC-1483 Bridged Ethernet is NOT stuff used. If so, contact your local internet provider for either a static IP or a work-around. If you're RFC-1483 bridging to your ISP, then your cam will never be seen from the outside. 2. Know that you won't see your camera from the "outside," from within your own LAN. Use a 3G/4G smartphone or friend on flipside network to view it for testing. Many thanks to Mr. Smith at FOSCAM Houston Tech Support, for highly professional and detailed translating and assistance with some last minute troubleshooting. Using this as aVictualmonitor I was worried well-nigh video lag. Turned out the D-link had a severe lag when using the d-link app and seemed very buggy so I got the foscam. Lag is very little ( same as any victual monitor 1-2 sec) and it has pan and tilt which comes in handy. Very happy with this product. Wish I would of gotten this one when my son was born instead of aVictualMonitor that was overpriced just considering it was labeled a victual monitor. Much largest picture quality and features for the price. My wits with the FOSCAM team both in technical support and consumer service is the weightier I've overly experienced. The technical staff have the online remote tools and knowledge to fix problems quickly and they do. Alice was very knowlegable and a pleasure to work with. Can't say I've experienced that surpassing in tech support plane having been one myself. When a camera return and replacement was needed Mona in consumer support made an uneaten effort to ensure the camera sent out was working perfectly. Don't have any complaints with the FOSCAM team and that's rare. Needless to say I'll be ownership spare cameras here. (Posted on 6/16/12) Our First Security Camera Review by Ball P. Penn Price Quality he first thing I figured out was that I needed to print out the transmission that comes on the CD. The quick install pamphlet is good, but limited. You do need both to install the camera. One thing that they tell you to do is go to [...] and get a self-ruling domain name to use when you connect remotely. The problem is that visitor doesn't provide self-ruling domain names. The other options for domain names given in a list they provide in the software seem to be non-existent. At least I think that's what they're telling me... It's troublemaking and poorly explained. I'm currently connecting with the IP address, and it has worked from a location outside my internal network. I'm going to try using our domain supplied by Microsoft for our Windows Home Server. [...]. If it works, I'm set. If not, I'm looking for a place to get one. I'm not overly interested in purchasing a domain name just for the cameras. Of undertow if the IP write works unceasingly I don't have to. Their port forwarding screen and subtitle are confusing, but it's port forwarding so what would anyone expect? I still don't understand why every subtitle I find regarding this task confuses it increasingly than necessary. As for the camera itself, I am very impressed. The pan and tilt range is excellent, the resolution is well-spoken at 640x480, the verisimilitude is crisp, and you can retread the splendor and contrast. I think it has the worthiness to save settings based on what you choose, but I haven't tested that yet. Infrared is will-less when the light level gets low and is a well-spoken image. It will email alerts (it can be turned on and off easily) and I have set up and tested this feature. It works well within limits, but I can't get it to successfully send a message to my wife's Gmail worth plane though it sends one to mine. This full-length needs a largest subtitle in the documentation. It attaches six snapshots to the email, and you can get a tuft of emails with unvarying movement! I know this considering I forgot to turn it off once without testing. Oops! The picture quality in the email is excellent. Overlooked the numerous online feedback on wifi issues. Found out the nonflexible way that wifi is very problematic. Initially unfluctuating the camera via wifi but without disconnecting it for relocation, the camera refuses to connect via wifi. A very tech savvy person with solid network background, I have tried every single option both on the camera and via multiple routers and my wits is the same as most others online.Without4 days of trying to connect via wifi, I gave up and ran a wire to the camera instead. The wired connection works and despite my woes with wifi, this camera, once it holds up, is a good buy compared to many other options out there. I'm not a fan of CMOS cameras but this one looks just as unconfined as my CCD ones. Downloaded FoscamPro for iphone and everything works often well except for an occasional audio distortion. Overall, I'm happy with this camera for the build, features, and functionality at such a low forfeit despite the wifi issues. If you are looking for a wifi camera, forget this one, otherwise it is a unconfined deal as a wired camera. One last note, there are many imitation cameras looking the same but mine was from Foscam. I have tried all the x10 products and 4 other network cams and this is by far the best. It is relativly easy to set up and they just work. The iphone software and computer interface is wipe and easy to understand. I finally did get them viewable on the interent without some help from tech support. It unquestionably was not that hard... you just have to pay sustentation to what you are doing. Ill requite you some advice. When they tell you to do "port forwarding", do not use the "range" option...... do each one indiviudaly. so in your router you will put in the ip write of the cam, then assign a port number. 8090 is a good place to start. So your cam will then be something like this if you are within network. 192.168.1.125:8090. If outside, you need to get your router ip addess then the port number. So something like this. http://74.100.222.154:8090. Besides all that tech geek stuff, you will like the cameras. You can transpiration the scan speed to very slow to surprisingly FAST or anywhere inbetween. and the range pan and tilt range is incredible. You will never finger like "i wish it could go a little farther". You can moreover have the ir lights come on automatically when it gets visionless or you can tenancy them manually. Visability is unconfined at night. May be increasingly than 7 meters which is too far to see much detail anyway. Pic is well-spoken day and night although the verisimilitude is a little weak, however it does have wheels iris tenancy which is unconfined cuz it adjusts instantly to unexceptionable light or shade. I have had mine outside under eaves for over 6 months with 0 problems. Oh and i scrutinizingly forgot. You can talk through them and listen to feedback which is great. No uneaten speakers or anything required. This is priceless... expressly when the kids are outside doing something they shouldnt be!!! For me, it wasn't immediately unveiled that there were two mac addresses for the one item. One MAC write was for the wired nic and the other was for the wireless nic. The MAC write for the wireless nic was in tiny print and my old vision had trouble reading it! I ordered two increasingly of these so that should speak to whether or not I'm satisfied! In order to make the camera work, I had to replace my old router. I had a friend disagree that it could be the router until I replaced it and things started working just fine.Theoreticallyold routers (5+ years old) don't support newer technology very well. I can view my pups while I am yonder from home on my Android phone which is awesome. The provided documentation isn't the greatest. I got a lot of good translating right here in the reviews section and moreover on the Foscam website itself. However, I needed some help with port forwarding and e-mail watchtower settings. I tabbed Foscam tech support and was assisted by Ralph M., who was both patient and an expert. Both my issues were resolved in one phone call, including tests of the settings, using remote wangle to my computer. We are impressed by the smooth mechanical rotation, the good video quality and the "value" of the camera for the cost. So I tabbed tech support and I was fortunate to talk to "Jees." (I hope I spelled his name correctly.) He sent me an email with a link to click on so that he could remote in to my PC. (Posted on 6/16/12)Spanking-newquality, looks nice, works as advertised Review by Baz Price Quality The picture quality during the day and at night using infra-red, is excellent. The build quality of the unit is excellent, and it looks nice. The pan and tilt motor is smooth and covers nearly 360 degrees.Stuffworldly-wise to hear audio and speak it through the unit is just cool. As mentioned in other posts, getting the right apps is key. For Android, "IP Cam Viewer" (Free, or $0.99 with audio) is the weightier I believe. For iOS, LiveCams HD ($0.99, audio included) is expressly fantastic. The only lanugo side to the whole wits is the web interface to setup the unit. It's a bit ugly and increasingly importantly could use largest subtitle of what the options midpoint to reduce Googling - but that's not unbearable to justify removing any stars. Once the unit is setup, you really don't have to go in there again. (Posted on 6/16/12) FOSCAM 8910 is worth the uneaten money Review by J. Liu Price Quality I stuff trying not to buy flipside Foscam for the past two weeks, I had a FI 8918W before, and it works very well, the WIFI transmission is very good, frame rate is very good. The only negative is the price, it's higher than other foscam-like camera, so when I needed a flipside WIFI ip cam, I set out to buy squint at other options. I tried two other ip cam, one is the lowest price. This one the wifi range is probably one fifth of the Foscam, and the web interface is problematic, sometime I can connect to the GUI, but sometimes I have to power lanugo the camera to re-connect. So that one went back. I bought a second one from the same company, but with IR-Cut feature, but this one moreover suffer the same problem with short range of WIFI, and the web interface is moreover sporatic, at few instances, i had to power lanugo and restart surpassing I can manage or view it again. The biggest problem with these two camera, is when viewing thru WIFI, the frame rate is well-nigh 2 frames per seconds, so when you pan or tile or when the subject moving, it's like watching a comic strip very bad lag. When I ping those two cameras it get 50% or higher lost packets. So, then I finally tapped lanugo and unshut my wallet for the 8910W from ebay, sorry Amazon, you did not have the PRIME on the item I needed at the time. The new camera came in with nicer looking exterior shell, very quite when panning/tilting. The range is equally good as 8918, and reach much remoter than the other two previous camera. I can monitor both WIFI cameras and both frame rate are acceptable, i say 10-15 per second. The verisimilitude is much largest with 8910 due to the ir-cut filter, so if you want well-judged color, this is the one to get. The only thing I can hope for is lower price on these cam so I can get a few more! (Posted on 6/16/12) WORKS GREAT! Review by mom of 4 Price Quality WORKS GREAT! but took awhile to setup the wireless full-length on a Mac using Airport. I had to search for directions on the Web. Expect to study up surpassing installing, the directions it comes with are not clear. The wireless full-length has to do with finding the cameras IP, your router IP and port forwarding for use on the internet. Once that's figured out the iphone apps are easy to connect to the cameras. Put time whispered to get it setup and don't expect it to be easy, expressly if it's your first one, only considering you have to read and set it up by trial and error until it works. Finding the cameras ip was the hardest to icon out on a Mac. The software uses your browser to make settings within the camera. The camera holds the software not your computer. There are lots of instructions on the web for when you get stuck. Once I figured everything out it works really well. I am techie and it still took me awhile to set up everything. We are going to get an outdoor one too. If you're use to figuring out computers then you will get all working okay but if computers are not your thing then you will need help from your techie teenager are someone that works with computers all the time. Not Foscam Surveillance Pro. I got this so I could watch my home from my iPhone while yonder from home. The new Foscam Pro app lets me watch, record video, listen to audio, and talk through the camera. Foscam Pro is the only app that lets me talk through it. I can wifely my son, talk to the Fedex guy, and much more. Very satisfied now. The app is unconfined [...] (Posted on 6/16/12)UnconfinedProduct! Love the App Review by Joseph Price Quality I bought this camera as a solution to a victual monitor, although it is a bit increasingly expensive than a traditional monitor the FOSCAM IPTenancy2 app for only 3.99 on iTunes has unliable me to vaccinate my camera's up to my iPhone and iPad all using the iCloud. This makes it easy to trammels on my children from wherever I may be. So, without some research I picked up a Foscam F18910W. Love it! Streaming over the internet is way faster than the Logitech Alert and has many increasingly features. It's worked flawlessly with my WiFi setup on an Airport Extreme router. Pros: * Streaming over the internet is fast -- use a web browser or mobile app * Tilt/Pan functions work unconfined * There are a lot of good iPhone apps that work with the camera * Setup was pretty simple * User management is easy * It has IR lights and an IR filter for viewing at night * 2 way speakers indulge you to hear audio from the camera and talk through the cam's speakers (Posted on 6/16/12)Unconfinedlittle wireless IP camera Review by Siucity Price Quality I have a few wireless IP cameras, and so far this Foscam FI8910W is working really well. I have it placed by the window looking out the front of the house. Since I have it on the inside, I've turned off its IR so at night there's no reflection of the IR. I have a patio light on so it works just fine with that at night. These cameras are relatively easy to set up if you're network savvy. The setup process goes something like this: 1. plug the camera into your wired network and power on 2. log into your router to see what IP write it picked up 3. type in that IP in your browser 4. type "admin" for username and leave the password field zippo to log in 5. make your necessary configuration changes (add password, configure wireless, etc.) and save 6. once configured, unplug wired connection, power-cycle the camera, make sure it's wieldy wirelessly, then place camera in desired location The configuration process is well-nigh 5 minutes for me. I spend increasingly time trying to icon out where I want to place the camera for maximum coverage. If I need flipside camera, I wouldn't hesitate ownership this same camera again. (Posted on 6/16/12)Unconfinedcamera for the price Review by TRDTech Price Quality I ordered this camera considering my friend showed me what his camera could do. He has the older FI18918W model and i wanted to add security cameras to my house. I ended up getting this model since it is the newest model with a new IR-cut filter. Setting up the camera for wired and wireless was pretty easy but getting wangle from outside of your network was a little confusing. DYNDNS and port forwarding were foreign to me and i had to google a lot of stuff to set that part up. You need to sign up for DYNDNS.ORG (14 day self-ruling trial) then cancel surpassing the 14 days and you get to alimony and use 1 domain name for free. Functions of this camera is good for the price. I would plane pay a little increasingly if they would increase the camera resolution. Night vision and motion sensor with email notification is awesome. Email notifications moreover include 5-6 snapshots of when motion was detected. My friend with the older model saw my camera video and said that the colors are largest than the older model so he ordered 2 new cameras. I liked mine so much that i ordered flipside camera also.Unconfinedbang for the buck! The advantages of the Foscam are: 1-Great range of motion - 270 degrees L and R. 2-Decent IR night vision out to 25 feet or so. Works in well-constructed darkness. 3-Microphone full-length so you can talk (and listen) through its speakers. Panasonic can only listen-no mike. 4-Relatively easy setup. 5-Good prices available. Garty Price Quality My new FI8910W wasn't working with my wireless network with wireless security disabled. It could see the network when I scanned but it wouldn't connect to it. When I reverted it to use wireless security WPA-Personal it worked just fine.Stuffworldly-wise to put it on the web is great. And I'm using an app tabbed "Private Eye" to wangle the video on my Windows Phone. Now I just need to get the tragedian to add support for the microphone and speaker so I can use it as a fully fledged victual monitor. Enter the Foscam FI8910W. I didn't need anything expensive or upper quality, as I'm not guarding the crown jewels. However, the PT full-length is nice to have since the viewing wile is narrow to reservation my whole living room. The image quality (640x480) is winning for my purposes, and that's what I expected for what I paid. Setup was a breeze, I didn't plane install the software since you log into it through your browser (assuming your have a modicum of IT knowledge, plugging into a DHCP enabled router and discovering what the device IP is pretty simple.) Plugged in my wifi settings, reverted some of the security settings, and it lives! Very simple, I'm not sure why there are stories of folks having so many problems. I'm on a vital Windows based network, but I don't see why other systems would be fussy. I configured my Synology DS211j for a single IP camera and it worked when I personal it was a FI8908W device. PT works, motion detection works, I can't mutter really. I set motion capture scheduling for the hours I'm not at home so I don't have to wade through recordings of me watching TV. (How very meta.) Haven't tried nighttime surveillance yet, so I can't speak for those capabilities. Nor have I set up remote access, but I think with any device (this camera or my fileserver) it would be a bit increasingly difficult for the uninitiated than the initial setup is.Marrowline: You're ownership a cheap, made-in-China camera. It isn't the most featured or highest quality. It might not last forever. If you're wanting something to take pictures and get them out into the internet, I can't find a largest deal. Update: Got my Synology configured for remote access. DS Cam is pretty crashy on my Droid2, but when it does work I have pictures of my pooches doing whatever it is they do in the middle of the night. The camera works unconfined at night, the IR-cut is will-less and seems pretty good. Again, it's not unbearable for CSI style "ENHANCE!" action, but I can see who is soiling the carpet just fine. (Posted on 6/16/12)SuperstitiousReview by Luke Price Quality This camera is great. It came within a week as promised. I wasn't there to receive the package, the wordage guy tabbed me and said he would come when the next day and he did. He came at 7:30 am to make sure I got it surpassing work. I'm in IT but I was torn between the reviews on here. Some people saying it was extremely easy to setup and some people ultimatum to be IT experts that took 4 days to set it up. I gathered all of my resources together (paper manual, foscam website instructions, the pdf instructions from Foscam, and theWrenreviews) and proceeded with caution. It took me well-nigh an hour to setup but if I did one now it would take 5 mins. If you have overly messed virtually with a router configuration and you know how to follow written instructions, then you'll be worldly-wise to setup this camera. I did NOT have to subscribe to any ddns website or any of that crap. If you follow the instructions under support on Foscam's site, step by step, you will be good. Also, download the PDF instructions from Foscam, the paper transmission started off good but then progressed into wrenched English. The website instructions seemed to be written largest and had screen shots. The first 2 parts of setup were extremely easy. Plug the camera into the router and power (cables included), Install the software and unshut it up. The camera's IP is listed there. At first it didn't work but Windows prompted me to install an Active X control, once I did I got video. The "hard" part of setting it up to wangle from the outside world, just took some sniffing around. Their site has instructions for all the big name routers but I have a no name Zytel that they didnt have instructions for. I followed the instructions, they said "Go through the options on your router until you find an option that says "Virtual Server", "Port Forwarding", or "Port Mapping" mine happened to be under "NAT" on my router. I used the screenshot as a reference and went through every setting on my router until I found something that looked like the screenshot. You set the camera to use a port other than 80 (they suggest 8090), and then in the router, you enter the camera's ip write and port that you're using (ingoing and outgoing the same). At first this wasn't working for me, but then I noticed that my router was UPnP ready but the camera UPnP setting was unchecked, so I checked it and it worked! So once this is setup, you go to whatsmyip.com and find out the IP of your modem. Once you have your WAN ip you can type it with the port from anywhere in the world to connect to your camera (eg 63.63.10.1:8090. The camera moreover has a setting that will email you the IP if it changes! I have a Droid so I went right into the app store and surprisingly there are a tuft of self-ruling apps that you can use, and they work! The infared night vision works really well, I've been seeing white orbs dancing virtually my apt in the visionless (not crazy, I took video of it) not sure what that is all about. I just started messing with the audio, it's not the weightier in the world but it works and it's $100 camera. I'm still messing with the settings and I can alimony going all night but I highly suggest this camera. It has increasingly functions than cameras that forfeit 3 times as much (from what I read). And don't listen to all that BS well-nigh not ownership it from Amazon, if you squint on Foscam's website,Wrenis listed under trusted sellers. It forfeit the same on the website as it doesWrenanyway (Posted on 6/16/12)Unconfinedcamera Review by Theodore Lesnett Price Quality The camera works flawlessly, the picture is crystal clear, the night vision awesome. Setting it up tying to a subscription is straightforward. Make it wireless and accessable from outside your network, much increasingly difficult. The IP Camera Tool didn't work, but the workaround is simple once you know. Just type the camera IP write into your URL search (192.168.11.144) and the Monitoring System should come right up. You will need to be worldly-wise to get into your router. Again, typing this write into your URL search and it should come right up: 192.168.1.1 In your router, (I'll use CISCO as an example) you will need to go to the Wireless tab,VitalWireless Settings, and checkTransmissionand Enable SSID Broadcast. Wireless Security tab should be WPA2 Personal and your passphrase (password) must match the password in the camera. In the Administrator tab of the Real-Time IP Camera Monitoring System you need to go toVitalNetwork Settings and manually type in the IPWriteof the camera, and the pursuit numbers: Subnet Mast 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.1.1 DNS Server 192.168.1.1 Http Port 80 Network Lamp (checked). How to get the IPWriteof the camera? Here it is: 192.168.1.144. Then Wireless LAN Settings and click the scan sawed-off and then pick your router from the list. The SSID must match your router SSID, the Encryption is WPA2 Personal (AES) and the share key is the same as the passphrase or password of the router (above). Now, the last thing will to be set up Port Forwarding to see your wireless camera from some net connection outside of your own router. To do this you go when into the router and find Single Port Forwarding. In Cisco its under Gaming. There you assign an using name, like My Cam, type 80 for the External and Internal Port, and in that line's IPWriteadd 144 so it reads 192.168.1.144 and Enable it by checking a box. All this done, unplug the camera from the router and in your URL search type the camera's IP write and it should work: 192.168.1.144. Outside of your network you can see it by typing your IPWrite(you can get it from your router (or Google What Is My ISP) then add a colon and your port number which we whilom gave as 80. So it could be: xx.xx.xxx.xx:80. (Posted on 6/16/12)Unconfinedlittle camera. Simply performs as advertised Review by Mike Price Quality The vital stuff this camera is supposed to do - connect quickly to your wireless network, pan/tilt/zoom, capture unconfined images in regular and little/no light at reasonable distances - just works, it's fantastic. The applications misogynist for viewing the video on your iOS or Android device are all over the map, increasingly on this later, but initial setup was a walkover and, again, it just works. The wide features, such as motion sensing, the worthiness to email you a picture, save a picture or video stream and forward all such traffic outside your wireless LAN to the interwebs at large moreover just work. These wide features took a little while to setup and again, if you're not familiar with port forwarding and dynamic DNS hosting services then this stuff will be difficult for you. I am an experienced user and it took me a couple hours to make it all work. Some of that time was spent hunting virtually for largest documentation though because, again, Foscam's documentation sucks, but once I got it, it was awesome. However, at this price you'll be content, if not ecstatic. It works well as a security camera and victual monitor.Withoutusing it for 1 week I've bought 2 more. Details below. Research:Withoutresearching Wireless IP cameras for a few hours I terminated that this camera is the weightier value. I compared it to all other wireless IP cameras including TrendNet TRENDnet TV-IP422WN SecurView Wireless Day/Night Pan/Tilt/Zoom Internet Surveillance Camera Logitech Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master Security System with Night Vision Foscam 8918 Foscam FI8918W Wireless/Wired Pan & Tilt IP/Network Camera with 8 Meter Night Vision and 3.6mm Lens (67° Viewing Angle) and the upper end ones Panasonic Panasonic BB-HCM531A Outdoor Pan/Tilt PoE Security Network Camera (Silver) and this wondrous one from Axis Axis 214 Ptz Network Camera Pan Tilt Zoom Day/night 2 Way Audio. Not to mention this camera is light years superiority of a TrendNet camera I bought a few years ago for the same price (Newer Model) TRENDnet ProView Wireless Internet Surveillance Camera TV-IP501W (White). Setup: I couldn't find the software misogynist for download on Foscam's website so I unquestionably had to use the CD (People still use CD's?). Once I installed the software, I nonflexible wired the camera to my router Linksys E2500WideSimultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router, opened up the software, read the manual, typed in the default use id and password, read the transmission again, played with all the setting and then set it up to connect wirelessly. Then I sealed the software, unplugged the camera from the router, unplugged the power to the camera, plugged the power when in, opened the software when up and everything worked fine. If you have time trammels out the video on the CD. What's a rooter anyway? Pros: The rotation works great. If you set the speed to 0 it moves fast. At far distances, the lens itself is decent unbearable to get increasingly than just unstipulated idea of what is going on. At tropical distances it's sufficient. Works unconfined with the iPad.Equalto my Kill A WATT P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor it only uses 3 watts. Camera Cons: Either the quality tenancy is off or something got mixed up considering I ordered this camera in white and it came with a nice multifunctional mounting bracket. However, I ordered the silver/black version of this camera and it came with 2 antennas, but no mounting bracket. I contacted Foscam well-nigh this. They apologized, didn't question me, and sent me a mounting subclass for free. The soul of the camera fees a bit cheap, which maybe it is. For example, the top half of the camera does not fit snugly into the base. However, I have not had any problems rotating it. The whet of the picture has a slight bow to it. The resolution is not HD. You couldn't make out a license plate from increasingly than 20 feet yonder if that. While transferring a large file wirelessly from one palmtop to flipside using my E2500 router, the camera would pan erratically. As soon as the file transfer stopped the camera worked fine. I couldn't get the speakers to work plane with a microphone NADY SP-4C Dynamic Microphone plugged directly into the unit or into my computer. (Not sure what to do here.) I couldn't get it to play/record any sound either. To improvise I bought a victual monitor NTM-910YLW - SonyVictualCall Nursery Monitor. Runs hot, but it hasn't unauthentic its performance and then it's only using 3 watts. Supposedly you can't use this outside. I may test that theory. If I do I'll let you know. Software Cons: You can't transpiration the size of the camera view. You can't digitally zoom in on one spot. If the watchtower triggers it records for 1 minute. The only thing you can retread is the sensitivity. You can't retread screen size, which is really worrying when you use the multiple camera view considering the screen size of each camera is tiny. Tips: If you have multiple monitors, double click on the picture and it will unshut up a full screen view on one of your other monitors. This is expressly helpful if you're using the multiple camera view considering the picture is small. Camera Suggestions: The visitor details the limitations of the camera, but you don't realize how nice it would be to have some features until you use it. This camera should be worldly-wise to turn 360 degrees instead of just 270. It's quite worrying to not be worldly-wise to see overdue the camera. Software Suggestions: The watchtower settings need to be much increasingly adjustable. The screen size needs to be adjustable. You need to be worldly-wise to click on an zone of the screen and zoom in. Anyone else have a sneaky suspicion that someone in (guess where?) is looking at what I'm looking at? Maybe that's why they're so cheap? If you figured out how to get the sound working or have a solution to any of the other problems leave me a comment! UPDATE 1: I was worldly-wise to get the sound and microphone working. I had to add the camera's IP write to my trusted sites. The manufacturers website has a forum with answers to questions like this. UPDATE 2: I have 4 cameras total. 2 black, 1 white and 1 silver. The silver model appears to have some problems. I have a tripod that will hands screw into all but the silver one. Also, without well-nigh a month of use the IR filter will not turn off on the silver one so the untried grass looks like a purplish gray. I've just started the RMA process and will try to update. So far I am sufficiently pleased that I will squint into getting some increasingly to imbricate increasingly of the house. * Setting up the camera. The camera is very easy to set up as a wifi camera, by pursuit the written instructions and the video that comes on the installation disk. The process involves plugging the camera into your router, installing the software and getting the camera recognized on the network and then unplugging the network subscription and logging the camera into your wireless network. All fairly plain sailing, and this allows you to play virtually with the camera settings, and get used to its operation. Setting up the camera for web wangle is a little increasingly difficult. The video on the disk is a useful primer, but the weightier place to go for help is foscam.us forums. In the end it took me a few hours of frustration (and reading), but I am sure this can be alleviated by considering the pursuit points: 1. The DNS service at dyndns.org is no longer free, but will requite a 14-day trial without which the service is $20 per year. 2. I am a Verizon Fios consumer and it took me some time to identify that you should NOT intrust port 80 to the camera. It seems that Verizon blocks this port equal to one post I read. I allocated port 8090 for this first camera and it worked fine as soon as I did this. 3. The Fios router is easy to set up for port-forwarding - it's a hyperlink on the main menu which takes you into theWideOptions. 4. Be patient. You often have to repeat deportment on the camera and indulge it to reboot a few times surpassing it will show "success" on DNS forwarding. * Operating the camera. There are several camera parameters that can be changed, such as picture size, frame rate, splendor and contrast. The IR works well and can be turned on and off remotely. The camera has motion detection, with user sensitivity settings. When in watchtower mode the camera can be set to record to your main network PC momentum and moreover take still photos and email them directly to you. The camera has 2-way audio although there is a unshared lag between network and speaker. There is some audio feedback which I managed to unstrap by rotating the camera well-ventilated (wifi antenna) so this it faces flat. I read somewhere that this is due to the way these aerials are waved inside the wand so that the signal is largest from the sides that the wand top, which seems counter-intuitive, but my point is that you should play with the well-ventilated (wifi antenna) position surpassing getting too wrestling with it :-) Overall I would say this is a good buy at under $100 and gives good pictures. Now that I have set it up I shall be getting some more, so I guess that says it all. The software will indulge up to 9 cameras to be connected. I deduct one star as I had to do a pearly value of research, and there really is no need for this. I would think this should be set up in under an hour with the right guidance. [Update 24 March 2012] * Multiple Cameras I bought a second camera and set it up on the network very easily, simply using the IP Camera Tool once installed for the first camera and plane the network subscription that I had left in the when of the router. Camera #2 was picked up and identified and then I widow it to the wifi network as with camera #1. Getting wangle over the internet was a bit increasingly tricky, although once I had read through the foscam.us forum posts and started thinking properly it was fairly straightforward. I prescribed port 8091 to camera #2 (remember to alimony yonder from port 80, as mentioned above) and then copied all the settings from camera #1 to camera#2 in the DDNS Server settings and Mail Service Settings menu (except port number, obviously). * Hint for using presets: If you want to use the preset camera positions you MUST first uncheck the "disable preset" box in the PTZ menu under Administrator. Then, if you trammels "goto preset on boot" whenever the camera reboots it will start up in the preset position you last left it in. This of undertow assumes you have set the preset in the first place under the Operator menu (!) As an whispered I don't know why they undeniability it PTZ, as there is no zoom function on this model :-( * Now for the internet: In the Multi-Device Settings it is important NOT to use the local IP write of the camera (e.g. 192.168.1.11) but instead use the the DDNS web address, in my specimen [...], when completing the host field. Once washed-up this all works pretty well, and successfully emails me from either camera when motion is detected and records a video to my PC's HDD. Next step, removing the PC as video storage by either using NAS or FTP directly from the router... My initial troubles of viewing over the Internet were solved and I am very happy with the camera.Widowa star considering of the unconfined performance. I have been using the camera for three days. Overall I am pleased with the camera considering of the good quality picture, pan/tilt feature, and low price. Pros - Inexpensive (compared to most cameras with the same features) - Very good picture - IR works well - Easy setup on wireless network - There is a self-ruling app for the iPhone to view and tenancy the camera (CamViewer for Foscam) Cons - Setup for internet viewing is difficult. I'm not sure how well my volitional will work considering I have dynamic IP address. (if this part of the review confuses you, beware of setting this camera up). -Built-in web server viewer isn't functional with iPhone or iPad (doesn't respond to touch). There is a self-ruling app misogynist as a substitute (see above) - Sound does not work with browsers other than Internet Explorer (the recommended plug-in for Chrome and Firefox didn't work for me). - Sound will not work on iPhone or iPad (my research so far hasn't revealed a way to get it to work (Posted on 6/14/12)Unconfinedproduct...poor service wits Review by Mike McK Price Quality This is a very good product that does what it says it can do. The quality of the pictures for the purpose I bought it (watching my two year old)is just perfect. Features, awesome! My key thwarting is how difficult it is to set up for remote monitoring. Let me start by saying that I am not a techie by any stretch. I have a vital understanding of computers, I know what an IP write is and some other vital networking principles; however I don't care/want to know anything well-nigh routing tables, port forwarding etc. Not interested! So I think I am pretty much the stereotype parent wanting to put in some self-help technology and way too rented to spend hours trying to make it work. Out of the box the camera is really easy to set up within your home network- no problem! However when you want to set it up for monitoring from outside your home (which is really the whole point well-nigh having this camera!) that's when the "fun" begins. First of all the manufacturers do not superintendency to ship the most up to stage transmission with the product. Then you have to learn real fast well-nigh things like static IP address, dynamic IP, port forwarding, get a domain name from DYDNS etc etc. Don't worry calling their "help desk"- totally unhelpful and take no peccancy for anything. I got it to work eventually, but it took me a good 4 hours over 3 days to get it working properly, and I needed a domain name (NOT FREE!). They could really modernize this product by making it easier to set up and modernize theirConsumerSupport. (Posted on 6/14/12)Weightierbuy for the money Review by E. Martinson "Ladlenits" Price Quality I spent a lot of time looking for a good IP camera. My motivation to get a camera was to use it as a victual monitor, I was going to moreover vaccinate this up to my Synology NAS DS 211 with surveillance station. Setup: I work in I.T. so I wasn't too worried well-nigh the setup as some people have complained well-nigh it. With that stuff said I felt it was very easy to set up and had the wireless and port forwarding setup in less than half an hour. Since I knew what I was doing in whop I word-stock remark on how difficult/easy the documentation is to read for a novice user in setting it up. Video Quality: I don't have much wits with IP cameras but I am very pleased with the video quality. I have seen cameras with similar specs selling for much increasingly than this so for ~ $100 bucks you word-stock be too picky. The quality and detail it picked up is increasingly than unobjectionable for what I need. The night vision was great, In a large room and very low light I was worldly-wise to pick up everything in its line of sight very clearly. The one thing I noticed that I've seen on other reviews was a faint clicking noise when the IR lamps were on. Other Features: I like that it moreover has a built in mic and speaker so i can pick up the sounds nearby and moreover transmit audio to the device. I've once freaked my wife out a few times with this. The pan tilt and zoom is unconfined also. There are a few spots it word-stock rotate to and the digital zoom is just that so you lose a lot of quality when you zoom in. If you are going to be using this with a Synology Disk Station some of these features are not misogynist through their surveillance station so be prepared for that. From the forums at Synology it looks like they are working on getting all the features enabled but it sounds like both Synology and Foscam vituperation each other for the things that don't work so im not holding my breath. Interface: The built in web interface is okay. Nothing to spectacular and I honestly didn't play virtually with it all that much. I will be doing most of my Live viewing from my iPhone or iPad so I use an app tabbed LiveCamPro which is spanking-new and worth the money. All in all I think for what you get with this camera it is a bargain. If you need a camera with lots of features and good quality picture pick one of these up (Posted on 6/14/12)Spanking-newFeatures for the Price Review by R. Tickle "RATickle" Price Quality Considering that you are paying less than $100 for a wireless IP Camera that provides PTZ, infrared night vision, motion detection, and will-less email of watchtower photos, there is very little one can criticize well-nigh this camera. Yes, it's tricky to set-up if you have never washed-up port-forwarding surpassing and yes, the frame rate and resolution are both a little low, and the audio is crap, but remember that you paid less than $100 for this thing. If you need audio, higher frame rates and largest resolution, you should buy a increasingly expensive IP camera. As far as setup goes, if you understand networking and port-forwarding, these are my recommendations: 1) Do NOT install the software on the CD. 2) Connect the camera by Cat-5 wire to your computer. 3) Login to your router (via browser) and find the IP write prescribed to your camera. 4) Login to the camera at that IP write (via browser) and IMMEDIATELY turn OFF the DHCP. 5)Requiteyour camera a stock-still IP write on your network and fill in the subnet mask with what you normally use. 6) The Gateway and DNS fields should normally be the IP write of your router. 7) Fill in the SSID, encryption type, and share key used by your wireless network. 8) Pick a 4 digit number to use for the HTTP port number. (I have no idea what "Network Lamp" is so I left it checked.) 9) Disconnect the Cat-5 subscription and re-boot the camera. 10) Re-login to the camera at the new stock-still IP write to verify that everything's working. 11) Login to your router and set a port-forwarding entry to map to the stock-still IP write and HTTP port you gave your camera. 12) Use the "What's My IP" site to find your outside IP address. 13) Enter your outside IP write and HTTP port number into a browser and verify that you can get into the camera from outside your house. 14) You're done. UPDATE #1: Under the Mail Service Settings there is a checkbox named "Report Internet IP by Mail". If you trammels this, when you ISP gives you a new external IP write or when the camera reboots considering of a power failure, the camera will email you the current external IP write and port! A very nice full-length for those of us who prefer not to use DDNS services. UPDATE #2: The weightier app I've found for viewing IP camera feeds on a smartphone or tablet is IP Cam Viewer by Robert Chou. UPDATE #3: While I am still pleased with my FosCams, two things have happened recently that make me wonder well-nigh the merchantry practices of FosCam. First, out of the undecorous they have raised the price $10. Second, FosCam.us is given me the run-around well-nigh an RMA to return a camera I purchased directly from FosCam. If you do decide to purchase a FosCam camera, buy it through Amazon.Wrenwill not requite you the run-around over a return. FosCam seems to be money-grubbing and anti-customer. I have a iPhone and iPad , and having this camera has been a unconfined volitional to regular victual monitor's as we can see whats going on anywhere we go , and use it as a Nanny cam . I really like the worthiness to tenancy the camera. The setup can be a little difficult but there are some unconfined posts online to help you on either PC or Mac. I would highly recommend this camera. The setup for permitting wangle to the camera outside your local network does require some specialized knowledge on how to configure port forwarding on your router. Depending on your expertise that may be an issue, But if you go to the foscam website they to have all instructions how to do it , and without setting it up I'm Happy now . Price Quality I purchased this product directly from the manufacturer due to the disclaimer on their website that states they only offer support to products purchased from them directly. Click the camera on their website to read the disclaimer. This is my second camera from them. My first camera was the 8905W and it worked fine for a year then the wireless stopped working. I'm hoping my new camera lasts longer. Here is my review... I had the unique opportunity to see this camera in whoopee surpassing I purchased it and was impressed with the specs and ease of use. It's daylight picture is fine for my needs as I only use it to imbricate the first floor archway way. It's field of view is unobjectionable and the picture is well-spoken unbearable to make out details such as objects on the floor or on the table in the other room. It's night vision is fine for a good 20 feet, maybe a little increasingly of well-constructed darkness and 50+ in low light. The wireless setup was a walkover and the web tenancy works great. The only reason I requite this four stars is it's lack of Zoom. This is a PT Camera ONLY. There is no zoom and that would have made this a perfect camera for the price. The camera has an outdoor setting that profoundly improves the picture quality when viewing the outdoors. Unfortunately this is an indoor camera but viewing through a window pane produced no noticeable glare. However, viewing through the window screen blacked out the picture completely. Night viewing through a window pane was useless as the IR LED's produced a blinding glare. If your going to use this camera outdoor, I suggest taking the environment into worth and glare through glass enclosures. The audio works well. I used a stereo Mic and mini computer speakers to test it (Just wanted to see if it unquestionably worked) as I have no real need for a permanent hook-up. The wife just yells up the stairs anyway. They offer a software bundled package from the manufacturer for a largest deal than purchasing both separately. All in all, not a bad camera for the price. BTW the old one had a 1 Year warranty and this has a 2 year moreover something to think about. (Posted on 6/14/12) If you can't comprehend the instructions then maybe your just a DUMBASS!! Review by SHOJUS Price Quality I have 3 of these and they ALL work flawlessly (for the price)... :) I hate when people post bad reviews of things that they should not have purchased in the first place!!! Mark..... Your pretty dumb dude!! (Posted on 6/14/12) unconfined product Review by thewaxtadpole Price Quality these are definitely unconfined cameras... people think these things are extremely simple to install -- and they are -- but you still need some familiarality with remote DNS. if you don't they offer the option to remote install which no other companies do. Really easy to setup with my router and have the port forwarding configured to pass it through. Easy to tenancy via my android phone and iphone. Having said that, I'm using a paid app on the android - having a small issue with the audio on the android, but overall wondrous value for the buck! (Posted on 6/13/12) Terrible directions Review by Mark Price Quality So theoretically I need to have wide-stretching knowledge of DNS/DHCP/proxies? I don't have any idea what all that crap is about. The directions don't help at all. I now have an entirely useless piece of plastic. Thanks for ripping me off.
